Gaston Sauvé
Ottawa, March 24th 2022 – It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Gaston Sauvé in Montreal on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the age of 97.
Our entire school community is in mourning at this sad news and our most affectionate thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
Dr Sauvé invested time and energy as a founder of the Lycée Claudel and continued doing so throughout his life. He was Honorary President and a life member of the Board of Directors.
His determination and commitment have enabled the Lycée Claudel to offer a high quality education in French to thousands of students since its creation in 1962, sometimes in a difficult social context.
As a visionary and fervent defender of the French language, Dr Sauvé has made a respected institution. We will continue the Lycée’s primary mission of providing our students with excellent education in French in a caring environment, doing everything possible to enable them to achieve their full potential and having the ambition to grow the community of the Lycée Claudel.
At the beginning of the new school year, the Lycée Claudel will celebrate its 60 years of existence at which time we will honour the memory of this exceptional man to whom this institution owes so much.
